The Reflexology practiced at Greentree Wellbeing blends the therapeutic benefit of its eastern origins, with the relaxing effect of a western approach to treatment.

The basic science behind Reflexology is that reflected in your feet, hands and ears is a map of your whole body. This means that when you apply specific pressure and massage techniques to these areas, you are essentially balancing the entire body.

Reflexology is wonderful for those who are too modest to remove their clothing for a massage. The treatment is conducted while fully clothed and even though only the feet, hands, ears, lower legs and arms are massaged, you are left in a state of total relaxation, just as you would be with a full body massage.

In addition to its relaxing affect, it also rebalances all the body’s systems. It is therefore immensely helpful in the treatment of:-

  • common problems such as allergies, food intolerances, sinus congestion, headaches, constipation, back pain, toxic build up, oedema, poor circulation, eczema, high/low blood pressure, urinary tract infections, bursitis, anxiety, nervousness, etc
  • debilitating health problems such as diabetes, cancer, asthma, chronic fatigue, irritable bowel syndrome, autoimmune disorders, etc
  • maternity related problems such as frequent urination, constipation, nausea, back pain, fluid retention, sleeplessness, headaches, muscular tension and general discomfort
  • hormonal imbalances such as amenorrhea, PMS, menopause, hyper/hypothyroid, hormonal acne, infertility, insomnia, etc

FAQ’s...

What can I expect during a treatment?

A treatment will generally begin with a relaxing foot bath over a brief consultation. Your practitioner will then tailor the treatment to your specific needs. The remainder of the treatment you just lay back and enjoy your feet, hands, ears, arms and lower legs being massaged.

Does it hurt?

The pressure used is firm, to ensure a therapeutic effect, but is generally not painful. Often there are areas that feel a little sharp or uncomfortable. If you are experiencing any great discomfort your practitioner will decrease their pressure or modify the treatment accordingly.

Is there anything else I should know?

There are several things that are important to know:-

1.A reflexology treatment is generally not advised during menstruation, or within 1 hour of meals. Therefore it is important to time your treatments well, both during the day and during the month.

2.Water intake is crucial after a treatment as the kidneys are working hard to filter out toxic build up. A minimum of 500ml is recommended within 30 minutes after a treatment.

3.Comfortable clothing is highly recommended. Generally shorts or loose fitting pants are best to ensure your optimal comfort and modesty.
